I make paintings of the wilderness and in cities and little towns before dawn that bring to life that awe-filled mystery of being alive on this planet.
I got a lovely surprise on Saturday when my latest watercolor, Highway 100, Pittsfield, Vermont won best of show in the New Mexico Watercolor Society’s Spring Show! My wife Melinda was kind enough to man my booth at the Santa Fe Society of Artists while I drove down to Albuquerque for the ceremony. This is from a trip I took last fall to Vermont, where I spent a little time one night wandering around the little villages around Plymouth and Killington, and found this lovely scene where the highway ran through the town of Pittsfield. I’m very grateful to the lovely people at the watercolor society for this unexpected honor!
Awesome Jonathan, well deserved, it’s one of my favorites!
